Braselton road project to move forward
Road projects in Braselton and Commerce will move
forward following action Monday night by the Jackson
County Board of Commissioners to approve agreements
with developers.
The BOC approved development agreements with
Braselton Ventures and Commerce Land Holdings.
The agreement with Braselton Ventures is for the Zion
Church Road project in West Jackson. The agreement
outlines the donation of four aces of property by the
developer.
The county will realign Zion Church Road from State
Route 124 at the intersection of Josh Pirkle Road North/State Route 53 to the new location.
The project is funded through economic development
road bonds previously approved by the BOC. It is currently
in the design and right-of-way acquisition phase
and construction is slated to begin in the summer of
2009.
The agreement with Commerce Land Holdings is for
the Bana Road project in East Jackson. The developer
agreed to donate 15 acres of right-of-way.
Construction of the road is scheduled for the fall
of 2008. The project will add 2.7 miles of three-lane
roadway to the “I-85 parallel network” connecting State
Route 98 and State Route 82 Spur, along with opening
up over 425 acres of industrial property.
